At the time I reinvented myself into a nonprofit education leader after a 20-year career in the corporate world, my wife started Alexander & Co. luxury travel agency. After seeing how much I enjoyed going on adventures with my buddies to places like Peru, Vietnam, and Patagonia, she encouraged me to lean into my intrepid mindset and professional background to launch this side-hustle I call Shibshib. In some ways, Shibshib is full circle for me, as my dream jobs growing up were airline pilot or National Geographic reporter. The company's name and logo borrow from the colloquial Arabic word for sandal (or flip flop), and the ISO keyboard symbol for escape.
Shibshib is more than a passion, because I've seen the transformative power responsible travelling has on our worldview and that of fellow travelers. My goal is for Shibshib to reflect these core values by someday becoming a Certified B Corp, a company that benefits all people, communities, and the planet, not just itself and shareholders.
